The Lenovo Legion Go, as noted in our review, is a beefy handheld gaming machine - in more ways than one. Not only does the device pack notable hardware and

features, it is also perhaps the most bulkiest and heaviest of its kind available in the market today. If the latter is a deciding factor for you, then this latest rumour may be something worth noting.

According to a recent report by Windows Central, Lenovo may be planning to release a lighter version of the device, tentatively named the Legion Go Lite. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the publication says this variant is expected to feature the standard AMD Z1 chipset instead of the Extreme variant, and will likely come with several other refinements that sets it apart from the base model.

However, specific details regarding the latter is still a mystery for now. Given the 'Lite' designation, the alleged variant could potentially feature a smaller display or the removal of certain gimmicks, namely the detachable controllers. Following this route will transform Lenovo's device to feature a more traditional form factor, much like the Steamdeck or even a Nintendo Switch Lite, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

According to Windows Central, it shouldn't be long before Lenovo officially unveils the Legion Go Lite. However, the exact date for this is not known at this time, and let's not discount the possibility that this particular rumour may be inaccurate in the end. On a related note, Lenovo did confirm previously that a successor, tentatively called the Legion Go 2, is indeed in the works. As noted by company representative Clifford Chong in an interview, its upcoming handheld will be of a newer generation, so it is unlikely that he was referring to the rumoured Lite variant. And it may also be a while until we get to see the sequel, as Lenovo said it will only unveil the device 'when the time is right.
