Also coming to America for the first time is Sunsoft’s Amazing Hebereke from 1994. The adorable action game sees players battling it out in colorful stages littered with traps and weapons. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can play solo or in a vs. mode with up to three other players. The 1991 shooter game Super R-Type stands out by being the only one previously released in the US. Developed by Irem Software Engineering, it sees players defending Earth from the alien BYDO Empire. Players pilot the titular R-9 through seven challenging stages. Despite mostly being the same console, the SNES and Super Famicom used different cartridges as a form of region locking. While adapters exist, it still added an extra layer of difficulty for Americans who wanted to play the Japan-only games.
