It’s really under the hood though where the RedMagic 8S Pro stands out from its predecessor. It is the first smartphone in Malaysia to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ‘Leading Version’, an overclocked version of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2—similar to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy found on the latest Samsung flagships. That gets paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.
In the camera department, the RedMagic 8S Pro packs a triple rear camera setup with a main 50MP, f/1.88 camera using the Samsung GN5 sensor. That gets flanked by an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide shooter and a 2MP, f/2.4 macro sensor. Up front meanwhile is a 16MP, f/2.0 under display camera sitting below that 6.8-inch display.
Other features of note include the aforementioned RGB lighting that can be fully customised as well. You’ll also find touch sensors on the side on the RedMagic 8S Pro that acts as shoulder trigger buttons too. A large 6,000mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging keeps the lights on, and there’s also an under display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack and support for NFC, 5G, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity.
