Nvidia Corp. announced a new, lower-priced version of its newest graphics cards Sunday evening at an early CES news conference. Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang introduced the GeForce RTX 2060 card, the latest version of gaming gear based on Nvidia's Turing architecture for graphics processing units, which was launched last year. The GeForce RTX 2060 will start at $349 when sales begin on Jan. 15, and buyers will receive a free game with purchase, either "Anthem" or "Battlefield V." The cheapest RTX card before the 2060 was announced started at $599. At Sunday night's news conference, Huang showed off a series of games using the key element of the new Turing GPUs, real-time ray tracing, using a GeForce RTX 2060. He also announced new laptops using GeForce RTX technology, with 40 models from different manufacturers planned to being selling Jan. 29. CES officially begins Tuesday morning, though announcements for the media are being made until the show begins.
