New VIP+ Analysis: Microsoft wants to instill relief over its dealings, but the business of gaming just isn’t about consoles anymore.

Savage Game Studios for an undisclosed sum in 2022 and folded it into a newly created mobile division, though the live-service action game it is working on hasn’t been announced yet.

for $3.7 billion in 2022. With the matter of exclusivity being the FTC’s principal concern alongside Microsoft’s prior assurances “Call of Duty” won’t leave PlayStation, it’s tough to imagine the Activision Blizzard deal will close without a written agreement to keep “Call of Duty” a multiplatform title.

The big question then is if similar concessions will have to be made for “Call of Duty” when it comes to Game Pass. Sony has already accepted the reality of offering first-party titles to PC players and foregoing those potential hardware sales as a result.

Keep in mind that many of the studios Microsoft acquired or launched prior to the Bethesda buy have yet to release their big new games, as is the case with “Starfield” and “Redfall.” If these games are well received and do lead to greater sales of Xbox systems, even Sony’s biggest advantage in the gaming market could encounter strain.

Microsoft wants its Nintendo announcement to instill relief over its dealings, but the business of gaming just isn’t about consoles anymore — as much as the sector’s leaders still wish it was.

LoL. ... You give the game away by specifically mentioning Sony.

Oh you're daring to bring the Xbox fans out😅

Breaking News: Microsoft is bigger than Sony…leaving nobody surprised

Stick to movies and TV. Sony is scrambling because they’re going to lose their Call of Duty exclusive contract which allows them to corner the market on Call Of Duty.

What does this even prove? Of course Microsoft is a better tech company than Sony. Who even bought their laptops?

that graph is just wrong.

Yeah but the gaming is equal besides Sony is a Japanese led company. Who cares

All this shows me is that one big tech firm made bad decisions since 2018 and the other did not 🤷‍♂️

This ain't the 'gotcha' you think it is lmao

lol ya'll know that's an incorrect chart right?

The scale of the y-axis of this figure is misleading. The focus needs to be only the gaming. Microsoft with market cap. 1.856T is over 18x larger than Sony with a market cap. 98.4B. Microsoft's non-gaming revenue is irrelevant to this discussion.

Sorry Sony is a smaller company, but I don't see how they can argue against a practice they engage in simply because it's bigger than anything they could ever pull off. Welcome to capitalism, right?

Because Sony fights dirty.
