It seemed like Microsoft and Square had a good thing going for a while there, with Xbox getting the remastered versions of FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFX-2, and FFXII. All of these titles, as well as the FFXIII 360 trilogy, even made their way into Game Pass. Of these, only Lightning Returns remains in the service and its days seem numbered, having joined in early March and with the other games lasting roughly 12 months on Game Pass a piece.

The problem isn't only with SquareEnix, it's also with CapcomUSA_ MegaMan and BandaiNamcoUS for example. And on SE, is not only with FF7R and Pixel Remasters, is also with Octopath Traveler II, Neo TWEWY, FF16, etc. Xbox is always skipped by those companies, it's annoying.
Square Enix is in the business of selling video games, to bring their games to a platform that mostly embraces a subscription model isn't good business.

I think Square Enix is requesting money for it's ports on Xbox. It just happened that Xbox has paid FF Origins, Chrono Cross, Diofield, Star Ocean and Crisis Core so far. This is just my speculation
As an Xbox fan and a final fantasy fan, it’s bloody annoying. “But a ps5/switch” I hear you say. I have both. And a pc. And a steam deck. And none of that changes the problem at hand.

I just don't understand SE anymore. Let's say 'Sony paying them to keep FF off Xbox' is the reason. Then why Crisis Core is released on Xbox? Or let's say 'They can't make money on Xbox' is the reason. Then why Star Ocean and Diofield are released on Xbox? It's just... Weird.
