Speaking from experience, parenting is not easy when games create mega-FOMO with things like time sensitive events to earn special items. However, it's up to the parents to limit game time and teach their kids how to balance reality/online effectively.

As a gamer it's not the games fault. Your child has an addictive personality and video games is it's prize drug. It's better than them being on real drugs.

Happy we only had asteroids at the mall when growing up. We just rode our bikes, played sports, normal outdoor stuff. We also didnt shoot each other, talk back to teachers, bully people to the point of suicide on social media etc.
