Xbox will start charging $70 for some Series X/S games

will all be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on day one. That could make Game Pass more attractive and an even better value proposition — at least until Xbox inevitably raises the price of its subscription services too.

Furthermore, this seems to mark the beginning of a shift away from releasing major new games on previous-generation consoles. Not $70 please. $69.99

What’s the normal price? I’m Canadian so I haven’t seen 70 dollar games in quite some time.

I'll be honest...The price increase irritates me...but if Gamepass remains the same price as usual then I may be able to get by on that and buying one or two big games I absolutely must have for their full price.

I wouldn't mind paying $70 if the game is on par with Elden Ring/ Red Dead 2 quality. Meaning, the game is complete and can easily draw you in for at least 60 hours without DLC's. Otherwise we pay $70 for a half finished game that's not engaging until they drop a DLC

OK, 1st, Microsoft will do the charging since the Xbox is an inanimate object. 2nd, most of those games won't be worth it and after a month or 2-3 will have the price discounted or it winds up on Gamepass. The worthy titles will be worth it.

old news, it's already been happening

Hmm. Having kids now, I know that time flies, and I know if I just blink a few times, this sucker will be discounted during a weekend or holiday sale.

Nothing new, prices always goes up with new console releases.

'This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles,' must mean the games will be more optimized and really gone through to make sure there are no bugs. I mean we are paying more so we are probably getting better products.
