Revenue from the company’s games segment was year-over-year, with some of the increase due to the impact of the weak yen. But operating income fell from 82.7 billion yen to 42.1 billion yen , a decline of almost 50 percent. Sony cited the costs involved with making, as well as developing games more generally, as contributing to this decline.
“Performance of Sony’s two major pillars, games and image sensors, was bad and masked by the weak yen,” Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda. “PlayStation software sales continued to be lackluster and still-declining PlayStation Plus subscriber numbers are concerning.” As a result of the challenges, Sony has cut its annual profit forecasts for its games division from 255 billion yen to 225 billion yen ,notes. The company recently said it’s focused on ramping up production of its PS5 console, but also plans to
Hahahahha Ls keep rolling in
SacTownHoops It's all good. We buy PlayStation games. We ain't all the subscribing type.
elonmusk needs to fact check the verge
Tom Warren always likes to talk bad but doesn’t look at the fact that Xbox has the least amount of users for gamepass.
Biggest scam of 2022 for sure.
misinforming the public for clout clickbait is bad business bros
Really they should’ve just had two tiers instead of three: PS Plus and PS Premium. Having a middle tier was too many changes all at once and caused confusion.
No they're not. It's 5% of subscribers and they're bringing in more money. You also haven't considered other factors like seasonality.
Tom Warren the MS shill trying too hard again
TBH, I have PS5 but little time to play, and I would not subscribe, but then, I wanted to play Stray and it was no-brainer. Not that bad, but XBGP is better for now.
Most of the subscription games haven't been my cup of tea for a long time and I don't play online so have dropped it myself.
Must have ideas for this Christmas
You clowns haha
more misinformation from the Verge ?... nothing new I guess
Lol YOU THINK?
Your precious xbox doesnt even have 20 million active subs tomwarren
That's because the classics section is lame.
Because you have to go all in. Let us buy individual months. Not everyone wants to pay an extra $60 for something they’re not always going to use.
That's bc the new tiers are shit
No exactly
Despite losing subscribers on PSn, Sony has posted its best ever quarter in subscription revenue. Revenue was up 21% from a year earlier, according to analyst ZhugeEX.
Sony needs to allow more options to download games instead of streaming only, release PC ports alongside console release and then they may actually see the growth they are wanting.
I mean, I’m subbed to the premium tear and it honestly isn’t worth it. Most of the games on it I already have and the ones I don’t I just don’t want to play like death stranding for instance. They have some cool stuff, but for price? Idk I feel they need to add a bit more.
Because you have to go all in. Let us buy individual months. Not everyone wants to lay an extra $60 for something they’re not always going to use.
Good old gamepass keep taking Ws
Microsoft payola article
.
It’s not off to a rocky start , it’s actually up from last year.
If I hadn’t done the year I would have canceled, it’s a bunch of old stuff or games I already have with gamepass
😂 you guys are silly. PlayStation is one of few gaming services that PUBLISH their numbers. I’d love to see the competition’s numbers.
Tom Warren is that you?
This statement isn't actually true when you see the full report! I hope you find it Informative!
i did the highest tier and realized its a complete waste of money and dropped down a tier if they dont want to put any effort into the backward catalog there is no reason to have it. But the service as a whole has been great for me ive downloaded a bunch of games
Fake news. Ps plus is one of the world's leading subscription services. Xbox would kill for those numbers.
Maybe because there aren’t any classics
The service just isn't that enticing at all. They haven't shown any sign of willingness to put forth an effort to make it significantly better either. The premium tier especially.
It's amazing Xbox GamePass is continuing to grow both on Console and PC even though there were limited 1st party games from MS this year. While PlayStation subscriptions are already going down. Clearly Sony is having hard time competing with GamePass.
It's incomprehensible. Gamepass is great but even that has tiers of subscription but nothing as confusing as PlayStation
I wonder why
Revenue per subscriber in the PS+ segment is up 21% YoY ✅✅✅✅
I feel like if they revamp the sub tiers then they should be good. Even I was confused when it first debuted
This should have been a slam dunk for PlayStation. But they launched a dumb tier system that isn’t just confusing to allot of people and a mess to navigate but the value just isn’t there. Especially the “Premium” tier is a joke. Hopefully they’ll improve it. And soon…
✍️ the verge should take notes
Exactly. I hope Sony sees that subscriptions is not the future. We just need them to release great new games. That’s where the support is. We buy new consoles for new quality games. Like always. F Game Pass too (struggling to get half the subs of Plus on Xbox & PC together)
Too expensive for what it is.
