Promises like these are useless unless there are ironclad contracts that bind Microsoft to this commitment. What Microsoft offered Sony wasn't remotely that either so that instantly sows doubt.

Appeasing the regulators really, not Sony. They know they’re facing a uphill battle given the negative comments the regulators have said regarding Microsoft having control of such a large part of the market of games.
They’ve been saying this for months and yet people keep losing their minds.
