–but despite having nearly 18 million more users than any other nation, America still doesn’t have the most dedicated gaming community on the platform. Official data released today by Twitter, which analyzed the ongoing bombastic growth of gaming conversations on the service, revealed that there were approximately 1.5 billion tweets on the subject in the first half of 2022–a 36% year-over-year increase, representing another record half for discussions about interactive entertainment.

However, it’s Japan that has the most dedicated userbase when it comes to talking about game-related topics. As home to Sony and Nintendo, and a huge percentage of the year’s most discussed titles of 2022 so far, it’s perhaps no surprise–but with 59 million active Twitter users, Japan’s near-20-million-user shortfall on U.S. Twitter account numbers still makes its table-topping performance no small feat.

Japan leads a packed field of Asian countries that dominate the top-ten most engaged gaming nations on Twitter. South Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia take third through fifth place, while the Philippines and India take seventh and eighth position respectively. Brazil , the U.K. and Mexico round out the table.
