Prime Minister Scott Morrison will visit Darwin today to announce a $747 million investment to upgrade military training bases in the NT — a move the Opposition Leader has claimed is a reheated announcement from two years ago.
The Commonwealth says the investment is part of the $8 billion fund dedicated to defence infrastructure in the Northern Territory over the next decade. "These four areas are critical to ensure we have the live and simulated training areas and facilities to maintain a world-class military that ensures the ADF's ability to respond with credible military force, when required, to support the Prime Minister's position for an open and peaceful Indo-Pacific," the press release states.
Or the government could simply say that the facilities are aging and are too congested due the number of personnel (ADF and US) in the NT. Wargaming, and interoperability sound sexier than saying when the barracks were built there was no thought to the future.
Maybe setup training in colder places..
What a complete waste of money. Conservative governments have been spending the nation’s wealth on extravagant military equipment for nearly 20 years now in preparation for an invasion of china. Ladies, start knitting socks for your babies, they’re off to the Kashmir.
Aha! Explains a lot. Those dollar signs as well.
Believe when I see it! More inaction man spin
Scare time again, war coming, must be an election coming. lnp are fn dangerous. Their just making things worse with China, just to get re elected,I think we have to vote them out before they do cause anymore angst.
War gaming is a term that should really get in the bin
Announced 2 years ago. Wake up.
